This is year two for a holiday sale of handcrafted items in one of Prescott's historic homes. Last year, it was the Brinkmeyer house at Park Avenue and Gurley; this year it is the Walter Hill home built in 1907 at 138 Park Avenue, just around the corner.
Here's the house.
And on the porch this afternoon were just some of the goodies waiting to be unpacked to go on sale Friday (noon to 6 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Some 31 crafters will be taking part in the boutique, offering items as varied as bird feeders, primitive dolls, wooden toys, and knives. There will also be baked goodies. Unlike most such affairs, this sale is not run by a church or club or association; instead, it is the idea of local residents Cookie Brinkmeyer and Angel Burch. The website for the boutique is here; funds raised benefit Prescott Fire Department charities and the historic Citizens Cemetery.
I love sales such as these! Wish I could be there to look & maybe make a purchase or two!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful looking house, enjoy going to the sale, I hope you find something good.
ReplyDeleteI've always known this house as the Amy Hill house. Legend has it that Walter died and widowed Amy proved herself an amazingly progressive woman by going ahead with plans and having the house built herself. Don't know if this is true or not..maybe you'll find out:)
ReplyDeletemeggie -- I'll think of you when I write a check for goodies I've bought.
ReplyDeletecloudy -- I'm sure I will; the woman who made my wonderful cat will have items for sale.
brain -- interesting question -- I'll ask Angel tomorrow.
Sounds like a good way and time to make a few dollars. All of us have to survive.
ReplyDeletePark Ave. has some lovely homes!
