A Trove of Lost Things

When you go walking to See rather than to Work Out, small details worm their way into your vision. Often they are lost things. A couple of jewel cases. Empty. What happened to the CDs? Uploaded to the iPod, possibly. Maybe passe and used as frisbees. We'll never know.

This small shoe looked very lonely, sitting up there on the corner post across from the school. I could envision the toddler, hopping along, one shoe off and one shoe on. Not to mention a very annoyed mother...

Tent signs tend to get blown around this windy spring. As it happened, the only businesses near this sign were two mortgage houses and an auto parts store. No, they don't got sandals.

Here's an item that is frequently showing up lost these days -- the decorative auto wheel cover. Every time I see one lying by the roadside, I'm inclined to shout, "Bling, bling, who's lost the bling!"

But there's nothing bling about this lost (or tossed) item. This mattress has truly seen better days -- if indeed it ever enjoyed them in the first place.

Note: FizDane over at Splendid Pictures from Around the Net has posted several of my junkyard horse pictures. BTW, if you like interesting or beautiful or outlandish pictures, be sure to stop by Mr. F's site on a regular schedule.

I was behind a car the other day and watched as one hubcap came off when he turned down a street. Still behind him I saw a second one pop off and roll to the side of the road. He pulled over and I pointed behind me a I drove by. He nodded knowingly. Must have been new rims that didn't hold the caps well.

  2. I've seen several lost wheel covers in the past several weeks. Not to mention the collection of wheel cover pictures I've got sitting on the hard drive. Too many! Makes it hard to select the right ones for a post!

  3. If you see one for a 1998 Dodge Neon, hang on to it for me.

  4. How do you tell them apart, Mr. Cat-a? I mean, there are a zillion different designs out there...

  5. Some great captures here. BTW, my (probably very paranoid) McAfee Site Advisor won't let me go to Splendid pictures from around the Net', or not without overriding it.

  6. I checked with FizDane at Splendid Pictures and he says he's had this problem reported by others, but neither he nor McAfee can figure out why. It's too bad -- he has fun with his site.
