Bloggers: it's time to picnic!

Believe it or not, Flinn Park came recommended by a blogger -- one with kids. It's a small neighborhood park, one block west of Gail Gardner & one long block north of Gurley. At our last Prescott area blogger get together, a couple of the folk suggested that a picnic might be a pleasant change this time of the year. Never one not to jump off the deep end before consulting wiser heads...

...I went ahead and reserved the ramada, (even tho there's a charge.) Why? Because otherwise, someone (me?) would have to arrive at an hour quite early in the morning, claim a picnic table and be ready to scowl at people wanting to muscle in on this apparently unused table waiting for the afternoon. And even then, that's only one table. Far too complicated. Tell me I did the right thing!! Looking back, maybe I should have taken a poll or roll call. I apologize if that's what you would prefer.

Anyhow, a further look at the park. Above, a basket ball court. Below, playground equipment. The baseball diamond is off limits while new grass installs itself.

More playground equipment, but, even better, nice shaded granites for climbing.

Full Details: Prescott area blogger get together. Sunday, April 19, 1 p.m. at Flinn Park, 280 Josephine St.. The rental for the ramada is $37.50; a tip jar will be available to help pay off the city. Any and all local bloggers or prospective bloggers plus family are quite welcome! BYOG (bring your own goodies).

We spent many hours at this park when the girls were little and I never thought about the name Flinn. My next Prescott Past post is going to be about Dr. Flinn. I sorted the pictures out today.

lindaG -- sounds like Dr. Flinn was a person of some importance in early Prescott days.

steve -- I always enjoy them -- unless we get Weather.

lucy -- we'd love to have you. Perhaps you could hop a trans-Atlantic flight.

tombo -- glad it 's OK by you. Just hope that others of our group are also enthusiastic.

jarart -- considering that we appear to have storms heading in every weekend, I wonder. In the past, I always considered April to be the month that started the dry season.

I wonder if your local bloggers seem different in the flesh than their on-screen personas.

susie -- OMG, you are from Prescott??? What a different world you are living in today. I don't think I could hack it.

I live right next to Flinn park and it is never crowded. I doubt that you would have had to fight anyone away from the tables! Is anyone invited to the picnic? Or do you have to be part of the group? I just moved to Prescott and could use a friend.

jodie -- so do stop by, we're not any sort of membership group and what better than a reader to show up -- thanks for the tip about the park! Next time, we might take our chances -- we'll see how this picnic idea goes.
