A typical summer Saturday in Prescott: a major event on the Square, two car shows plus roping at the rodeo grounds. I managed three out of four, which left me ready for a proper goody. As the weather has warmed a bit, my mouth was shouting "gelato"! And so I stopped at Sweet Caesar's for a double dip of intense flavor. Love the stuff!
But who wants to handle a camera with sticky, gelatoed fingers? Time to wash up in one of downtown's cool loos. Examine that device above. It's a water faucet, you know. All you have to do is figure it out and a lovely stream of water pours down the chrome sluice.
To make the tiny loo seem larger, a trompe l'oeil of Lake Como on one wall.
As I left Sweet Caesar to return to the Square for the Tsumani, I passed this set of gates that really, truly wanted to be in last night's post. This is the scene of one of the downtown condos that didn't get started in time for the developers to really lose their shirts. Lucky guys, I'd say, though the site is certainly forlorn, especially in the center of town.
Today's Links: For starters, how about a review of the latest Star Trek movie by Toni, a local blogger. Of course, summer is the time of the year for camp; just happens that Prescott Pines now has its own blog. Prescott Style bemoans the loss of the big old weeping willow in the little park at the junction of Sheldon and Gurley, cut down by ADOT.

What a refreshing post!
(Except for the condo property; LOL)
~Anon in AV.
Gelato!!! Is it the REAL stuff? I'll check it out to see if it's like the wonderful confection I had in Italy!
anon av -- yeah, that property does have that western windswept, abandoned property look.
lady -- never had gelato in Italy, but this stuff is great. The flavor is I*N*T*E*N*S*E, the way I like my flavors. On Gurley just south of Goodwin.
Lots of Italians living in Germany. Lots of Italian eating places and of course the ice cream places with the good Italian Spaghetti ice or Gelato. You have good taste in ice cream.
mmmm sounds yummy! I will have to try it out =)
Yeah, I pass by that fence several times a week - it's been that way for a looooooong time... but it does have a sort of interesting look that might be fun to paint.... hmmmmm.....
That is really sad about the willow tree *sigh*
roflol! love the loo!
stee -- spaghetti ice is a new one for me, tho I recall what was called Italian ice from back in Chicago. Basically like a Sno-Cone.
frame -- speaking of cool loos, have you seen the absolutely elegant one over at the Prescott College Crossroads Center? I blogged it long ago.
Hazelnut gelatto....molto buono!
TONFM
Wow, no - I will have to check out your loo blog *winks* I am the 'pit stop queen' - so much so that I could write a 5 star bathroom guide for the southwest ROFLOL! Just ask anyone who travels with me!
Spaghetti Ice Cream is a derivation of a traditional European dessert, served at many European ice cream shops. Originally it was made from gelato (Italian-style gourmet ice cream), strawberry sauce and grated white chocolate.
Steve
You'll probably want to visit Buenos Aires, where all the ice cream is gelato, comes in exotic tropical fruit flavors, and can be delivered to your doorstep any time of day or night.
TONFM -- long time, no comment! Welcome back & what a delicious moment.
Steve -- thank you for that description. You won't find that concoction oit here in the boonies, tho on the Left Coasts, it's very likely available.
Melanie -- gelato delivery day or nightL: now there's a description of true civilization.
What timing! We made our first visit to SC during Tsunami on Saturday (thanks to friends Karen and Patrick , see his work at the new 'Tis gallery.) I really liked the "view" from the throne (didn't Archie Bunker used to call it that?) and the really cool faucet. This Web Urbanist post has more amazing faucets. While we were sitting at a table having a yummy sandwich and salad, P. took some pictures with the murals behind us. Probably only way I'll get to Italy. I had an idea about the bathrooms, but no one else was interested...
