Recall the lesser goldfinches inhabiting the seedbags, posted last week? In nature, the same goldfinches would be swarming that prolific sunflower bush in a couple of weeks once the flowers give way to seeds.

What a classic. Males doing all the eating. Females off somewhere doing the work. I want to come back as a goldfinch.
Next year, will the seedbag feedbags be covered with peach-faced lovebirds instead of finches? LOL

cmarie -- I too have often wondered about assorted bird name modifiers, like "lesser" or "great" or, for that matter, "endangered" and "threatened".
