Cherry picking

When I saw these workmen at the then-under-construction Compass Bank building, I knew immediately that I wanted one. No, not one of the crew, but that beautiful robin's egg blue cherry picker.

Can you imagine what fun it would be to ride in the basket at the Square and peer into 2nd or 3rd floor offices? Or perhaps a grackle's nest in one of the elm trees?

Yes, I'm aware that these machines are quite pricey and need to earn a living for their owners, aiding in such tasks as a new sign for Batterman's or the Framer's Market.

And I really don't envy guys working on power lines. Too much electricity scares me. Someday I'll tell you about my problem with static electricity. Not now.

Furthermore, I'm really not into washing windows, though a cherry picker really would make it easier and more interesting.

No, I'm imagining an easy chair up in the sky, with maybe a glass of wine or a stein of dark beer, enjoying the sunset. This after a high-rise drive through downtown Prescott exploring the tops of buildings and finally discovering what the upper story above all those shops is used for. If anything. Sounds like a plan to me.

Funny you should feature cherry pickers as our tree loppers had one in our back neighbours back yard to rid us of a pesky limb--at no mean cost.

It would be fun to have one. I have no place to park it.

What a fun adventure!

You could sell tickets to the tourists and raise a little spending money.

bro -- have you considered blogging the entire bloody affair?

windy -- ok, I'll set a little table for two. Have to have the robin's egg blue unit to do that!

steve -- how about a neighbor's back yard?

anon av -- beats pedaling turistas on one of those New Age rickshaws around town.

I like your thinking but I'd rather climb a tree! How wonderful to see the beauty in the common, ordinary things. I'll join you in that glass of wine, or a nice cup of tea! Thanks for visiting my blog!

birdie -- I'll just have my cherry picker cage lifted up to your tree house and we can toast one another. Just FYI, I'd rather be capable of climbing a tree, too, but that is long past, I fear.
