Dogs and their humans were all over the place Sunday. Especially when you neared the Square, where the Second Annual Dogtober Fest was underway. I had to see for myself.
As you peruse the pictures that follow, you'll realize that I did see a whole bunch of canines. All kinds. The first five photos were taken along Goodwin Street, going to and coming from the fair.
There were little dogs...
...and sizeable dogs.
Although the basic reason for this city-sponsored event was to find homes for the homeless, many many Prescottonians showed up in company with their animals .
Yes, there were also a few commercial booths.
But the focus was on all those dogs. And a well behaved lot they were, too.
Here's one of several dog rescue operations (above) present at the event. Below, an adoption volunteer.
One of the visitors to the Square makes the acquaintance of potential adoptees. I've no idea how many dogs found homes on Sunday, but several wearing the "Adopt Me" outfits passed by me on Goodwin before I arrived at the Square. As for the puppies (below), I hope that each and every one found a human. I tend to be a somewhat squinchy-eyed cynic, I do, but I can only applaud the city for this operation.

That many dogs in one area must have provided a lot of doo-doo to clean up.
But, I must say, those are some nice looking legs in Picture #3!
cat-A -- there was a doggie-doodoo station, but I thought it would just make the post look low class to run the picture. As for legs, I vote for #5.

All three of our hounds, over the years, came from the local equivalent of the dog pound and have been/are much loved critters of eclectic parentage.
Pity the poor canine with the idiotic hankey round its neck(middle class kitch)humbug, bah!!

Hope one of the vendors present was a low-cost spay and neuter clinic.
Our shelters are literally overflowing due to "foreclosure pets".
So, I'm pleased to see Dogtoberfest! Hope the idea spreads to other communities.

I was there too. Being a dog person, I could not stay away. We have 2 dogs so we could not adopt another. Our lab mix came from a lab rescue group in Phoenix, the rat terrier was a stray my stepson rescued.

Love it! I have two dogs; one from rescue and one from the humane society. They are the best!
brain -- that would make a neat-o picture, it would! Never had magnets as you describe, but then I am a good 10+ years your senior & I was thrilled to have a Real U-shaped Bar Magnet. Wonderful for dragging in the dirt & picking up iron filings,
qd -- I'm impressed at how many commenters got their dogs from rescue services of one sort or another.
What a fun day! I love that Scotty!! A couple of years ago at some Glendale outdoor event, I notice how many dogs were there. Amazing how flattered people are when you ask to take their dog's picture. Well done!
