Newport's Antiques is a small shop down at the far end of the Cortez Street antique row. I've never popped into the shop so I really have no idea of its merchandise or specialities. Or price range.
No, what caught my attention recently is how easy it is for an antiquery to quickly change its focus, to keep up with the times. Above, out back of Newport's; below, its store window.
No surprise that people are "trading down"; what has puzzled me and others is that the dollar store didn't make it over in the Goodwin Street Plaza. An advert in The Courier said that a consignment shop chain will soon open in that space. The only almost equivalents to for profit thrift shops here are those with yesterday's fashions etc., but there are numerous charity types, viz, St Vincent de Pauls, Goodwill, Salvos, Anglecare and so forth. They're also receiving more action than in the past few years.

Hmmmm..interesting. I wonder if the store contents has changed. I don't think I've ever gone in there.
The Powder Box church in Jerome can be seen from the parking lot at the sliding jail. Look down over the hill. My post on May 11 shows it at the bottom of the photo and that was taken from the now closed State Park museum.
