The views from my new aerie

I'm moved & must say that the dotter did a great job on making my new digs as cheerful and colorful as possible. More on that later. Right now, I'm just being impressed with a totally new set of views, as I face the north, in contrast with my house with its east exposure. Admittedly there's nothing new about a view of the hotel/casino on the mesa. But I also look directly at what used to be called Prescott Heights, the low hills directly to the north (below) that prove our little city is, indeed, located in a small valley!

Most impressive: a splendid view of Granite Mountain overlooking the city. Not to mention the nearby Two Rock Mountain and Little Granite, below.

The zoom lens does a good job of bringing Bill Williams Mountain into view and I even get the tiptop of the San Francisco Peaks as a reward for looking carefully! Both are about 70-90 miles distant.

As for what's down below? The remnants of our recent big snow. I am on a neat hillside now!

And many, many thanks to everyone out there in the wide world who's visited Walking Prescott recently to see how I was doing. I think that I'm a lot better now and promise to blog on a more or less regular basis -- after all, looking forward to the photography, the posting -- and the friendship -- was one of my personal rehab goals, if not necessarily that of the physical therapists who worked me over...

Good to see you back, GrannyJ!

When I saw the photo of the casino, I laughed and wondered if you'll turn into "Blogging of Bingo" or something similar.

Thankfully, you're more the Granite Mountain type instead. Looking forward to your new adventures!

And I'm thrilled that the wife could come down to help out.

Welcome back to blogsville. The views are a tad more interesting than Redondo, especially the shot Of ole Bill. Please keep doing what the physios say.

love, Hermano

It so good to have you "back in the saddle" if not back out "walking prescott" quite yet.

You're BACK!!!! I just knew you would be. And yes, you'll find tons of new opportunities for the blog -- "walking" doesn't have to be far. Emily Dickenson found plenty to write about without ever leaving her own backyard.

Geez-e-peezee! I haven't been to Prescott in a long time, seems the entire town looks different from what it was in the mid-70's. I remember it being a lot smaller, but at least the mountains are familiar :o) Good to see you back, I don't always comment, but I always read your blog.

Again, I'm so thrilled to see you've worked up a new post, and your photos of that dear landscape. Show those killjoy phys. therapists a thing or two...

anon av -- I'll take Granite Mtn. over bingo any day (though I suspect that a human interest photographer would have a grand time with the bingo...)

OD -- glad you like the view == I do. And I truly, truly thank you for lending me your wonderful wife, the dotter, for the requested month . She has been a godsend.

steve -- I've got a ot of catching up to do, squirrel-wise!

qd -- don't know just when I'll be walking about again; right now, I'm getting my walking legs (and lungs) back walking down a long hallway to meals.

bro -- Like that view of old Bill Williams, do ya? Me too. And, yes, I am being an obedient one, thus far.

Ycentral -- I've already found several photo ops at the new premises, but don't forget those thousands of photos I've got stashed. Yesterday's walkings, as it were.

jarart -- more views yet to come...

tombo -- very glad to be back...

cat-A -- I suspect you're going to get tired of Granite in all its moods & lighting changes...

jeanw -- quite obviously, when someone asks "just what do you DO?" my answer is "I blog therefore I am."

AZ -- the entire town looks different from how it lookd back in 19-aught-81 when we moved up here. Not always for the better, either.

melanie -- actually, the PT ladies were not bad; they understood that I want to be walking around again one of thse days Real Soon Now.

OD -- I'll take a look, I will.

lady -- I've missed being here too! Hopefully that is changing now. As for the location of Bill Williams -- the zoom effect, compressing distances...
