The last roses of summer...

Don't just sit there this afternoon! Get out of your house. Mosey on over to the Sharlot Hall Museum grounds and...

...smell the roses. I was there today and the rose garden is gorgeous! It is now fall, the air is slightly crisp, the plants are all very, very happy.

I say that as one who never was and never will be a rosarian. By me, roses require more time and dedication than I'm willing to devote. Quite happy, I am, to leave the work part of rose care up to the gardeners at the museum grounds.

I'm quite happy to simply admire the many colors and forms.

But one of these days soon we'll be visited by frost. The time to see the rose garden is now!

Hope I see you there!

dagny -- I'd say that roses are irresistible to the photographer, at least this one.

It must be the ancient soil here or something unknown, but if you increase those lovely roses by a factor of two, you'll have the size of the roses here in Perth. I was flabbergasted when I first viewed the roses here many years ago.

bro -- well, OZ was settled by the English and you know how hung up on roses they can be; I'll bet they can't get over rose envy when they visit Perth. How about the Eastern states?

anon av -- so you like seeing my inner biker express itself, do you?

granny j..I caught myself taking a deep breath, in anticipation of the fragrance of those roses!

Too bad there's no smell-0-vision on here! :)

jan -- too bad! But then, most of these are highly bred roses, which often don't produce the fragrance of little old fashioned blossoms.

While looking at your wonderful views, I was also 'inhaling' the magical perfume. I love roses. My daughter sees only the thorns, & I think 'How sad'.

meggie -- it's funny -- when I think "roses", I don't even get a picture of thorns in my mind. Of course, the wild Arizona rose on my porch brings me up quite short if I forget its thicket of thorns.
