The library mural takes shape

I've visited the latest mural project twice now. First, back in July, when actual work out back of the downtown library was just beginning -- and, more recently, in October. The display is definitely shaping up.

I don't know her name; she appears to be the chief mural mouse (yes, that is a tail in the picture above). There she is, at work, both times that I have shown up.

For some reason, there was also a lady from the Victorian Society posing with the mural as a backdrop when I visited the last time. Actually, I'm more interested that the mountain lion who sits on the front wall of the library has also joined the other characters in the new mural.

Now here's another section of the mural project in an entirely different style; I'll have to drop by in a couple of weeks to find out more. Painting is supposed to be finished this month.

Nothing like a little city-sponsored wall painting. :)

I believe the young lady's name is Maggie, and if I recall correctly she said she was from Tucson (not 100% on that though. It's been a few months since I talked to her).

They were only expecting the mural to take three months, but it has stretched a little longer than that. :)

anon av -- murals in their place and graffiti it its place, I always say.

steve -- certainly that young lady is having a lot of fun.

tombo -- I checked out the web site (see 1st paragraph for link) and discovered that the same group is responsible for the Granite Creek mural -- a fact that I had not known. I had always thought that the high school had organized that particular mural.

FYI
This project at the Prescott Public Library is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and other donors. It is being painted by the Mural Mice. R.E.Wall and Maggie Dewar are the project directors. R. started painting murals in 2001 with Mile High School and the Living Folklore clowns. The library mural is the third in a series created by the Prescott Downtown Mural Project. The Library mural is being painted in two chapters. The first will be completed this year (2008) and the second chapter will be painted next summer. The project is right on schedule and has involved over 400 people so far. Its exciting to work creatively in Prescott. Come visit and chat.
