A reading matter

Interesting line-up of magazine reading over at New Frontiers. Definitely there to appeal to women. Upscale women with the mind-set that goes with shopping at New Frontiers -- Mothering ... Vegetarian ... Get Fresh. However, I'm somewhat surprised by O, which is certainly a lot more mainstream, as well as a major on the mag racks at the big supermarket chains. Since I'm more likely to read Analog or Atlantic, I don't really have an opinion here, just plain old fashioned curiosity.

The magazine rack shows how the Quad-City area is changing.

anon av -- yes, to some extent it does. On the other hand, Plenty of copies of the grocery store tabloids can still be found at Fry's or the Safeway. Along with O, of course.

I think the popularity of O has more to do with her involvement in the new age thought. That is also very popular with the NF crowd. Just my guess, anyway.

It is funny that they all appeal to women - guess most grocery store magazines do - just hadn't thought about that! lol!

frame -- I've always been fascinated with grocery store check-out counter reading matter. Favorites were, of course, always the old-style tabloids of magicians who blew up and the latest UFO reports. New style celebrity tabloids are strictly ho-hum in my book.
