Of sunsets & man-mades

Is a volcano erupting somewhere in our neighborhood? Mexico? Central America? I just checked my Alaska link; not up there. Asking, because we have had spectacular sunsets, which I tend to credit to a mountain blowing its stack. I don't usually get the west view (above) because of my hillside location, though I have a splendid sunrise vista from my kitchen window (but am up at that hour maybe once every couple of years).

Waiting for my ride after shopping at the northern Safeway the other evening at sunset, I was struck by the lighting poles scattered through the big parking lot. Especially how they appear to be blossoming, in a curious, man-made way. Worth a couple of pictures in any event.

Linkage: The Spadefoot Toad discovered a Post-It-ed car down in Tucson; it was covered in love notes. A different idea of transporation at Geekologie: a beefy hummer equipped with equally beefy treads. Steve, of the Red Squirrel, should especially enjoy pb's post showing how her NY squirrels laid waste to the Thanksgiving pumpkins. More critters over at the One Acre Wood, including an unexpected tortoise.

Arizona sunsets are amazing. I always say the sky is on fire. In fact, I have a very old blog post here with a pic of a Tucson sunset:

Love your pictures and thank you for the link!

Kim says "I always say the sky is on fire"--which is, in my opinion, quite apt, because I think your splendid sunsets lately may be the result of the SoCal fires.

kim -- I recall the year of the incredible Arizona sunsets in the early 80s -- a volcano had erupted in Mexico, with amazing results up here.

dotter -- no, those pictures were taken last Wednesday, before the Calif. fires, I believe. We, too had a small fire this weekend, but, instead, too late. Maybe it's from a combo of Phoenix' and LA's brown clouds.

steve -- aren't they wonderfully loud and ...

tombo -- ...brilliant

brain -- yeah -- I suspect that Arizona highways should actually have been called Arizona Skies, because that was what it was all about (except for rocks that photograph red in the late afternoon).

avus -- Glad you enjoyed them...
