Rainy Day Pictures

Even if I lived in rain country, I think I would try to catch the essence of a rain storm. This morning our rain turned to hail briefly, hence the "rain" streaks in some photos.

The mountain mahogany captures rain drops and holds them briefly.

Not a day of harsh Arizona sun contrasts!

And the water starts heading downhill for the sea. But we'll collect it instead behind a dam.

That is a much welcomed contrast to the dry dry parched landscape.

A lovely sight, that rain. There must be sun spots or something celestial going on, as we've been enjoying same here, with dams being about a third full and tributaries still emptying in. I no complain.

We get rain all the time here in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, but you guys don't fool around!

I'll bet the whole experience was lovely.

Steve -- you just bet it is! We didn't get our winter rain this year and so our spring green was absent.

Bro Bill -- I guess the weather gods are smiling on both of us, at least for the current season; we were well over average for July.

pb -- in the West, we try to do things bigger than life. But for Real Rain, what we need is the tail end of a Baja hurricane!

Nice rain pix - it just shows that one should always carry a camera because there is always something to capture

Mr. avus -- good to have you back! And yes, I try always to carry a camera -- every time I decide against it, I am sorry!

SnS -- to photograph "rain", I think it helps if some of the moisture is coming down as hail -- that was the case yesterday.

What lovely silvery, delicate pictures, and they all hang together really well.

Lucy -- It's not often that you get a misty, nearly colorless picture in Arizona. I appreciate the compliment.

Nice. I love the silvery light.
