Fences -- digital or analog?

Living, as we do, in a hilly town, erecting a fence leads to a number of choices,

One can go with what I choose to call digital modules: ready-mades that are put together as stairsteps (above) or analog fences that parallel the slope of the earth (below).

Though I prefer the latter approach, following the lay of the land can lead to another set of problems (above) .

I like the third one. There is something about things being slightly off kilter that I adore.

The last one looks like a roller coaster.

Clever theme. Your town leans to the digital. I'm having trouble imagining the best example of an analog fence.

The last one gets my vote too. Is that on Park? I know I've seen it..

Wow, I never would have thought of it in those terms, but it totally makes sense. :)

I too am a fan of the analog versions, especially ones made of local materials. I've seen a few river rock fences (maybe more like walls I guess?) in chino, and lots of dead juniper fences out on ranchland.

kim -- but it's sure analog!

steve -- see comment above,,,

lindag -- vista place, just off coronado.

boonie -- the digital fences came in with the Home Depot big box stores, I think. DIY, the easy way, you know.

tombo -- I've got a much larger collection of cool fences, but I've wanted to do this theme for a long time, since I see more and more of those somewhat strange digital fences around town.

I wonder if the fences are put up to keep something in or something out. What do you think?

anti -- I'd say that it varies, but mainly to keep something(s) out. chain link seems to be the preferred method for keeping something(s) in. On the other hand, fences can be for keeping kids or dogs or eyes out.

Your perspective is always so interesting to me. I am learning to look at common objects with a different eye. Thank you........

anony -- I think it's part of the search pattern in looking for pictures -- the weird connections just pop into my head. At other times, a new idea happens after staring a long time at a collection of pictures. It is fun, however and glad you are enjoying it!
