Late afternoon lighting

As I've mentioned several times before, because of my location, I don't usually enjoy good late afternoon lighting -- and so I have to grab such pictures when I have a chance. Like yesterday, at a late, late appointment at the north end of town.Consider the sea of condos as a design element and instead enjoy the long shadows and the warm highlights, especially on the power lines and the dozer at the top of the ridge (below).

Just a few outcrops on Granite Mountain catch the late sun; the mountain is largely in shadow. And, yes, that is snow that you see in patches at all elevations.

Reminiscences: For some reason, the post called Miller Valley Empties continues to catch comments with wonderful reminiscences of Prescott Past. For that reason, I've added a link on the right hand side, just below my profile so that more readers can add their memories! Thanks to everyone who drops by.

I wondered what the blue hue was in your second shot--oy! it's snow already. We wouldn't know much about that down here.

The snow makes it all look so pretty.

Here's a pop quiz:
If you hear the phrase, "Fit as a fiddle and ready for love" who pops into your mind from long ago?

cat-A -- it's not often I have the chance to catch that light. Out my front windows are primarily pines & the hills to the east.

anon av -- oh, come on -- normally, I'd like to disappear the powerlines, but this time I liked the way they picked up the light.

steve -- I still wish we had a few of your lovely squirrels in my neighborhood to photograph.

bro -- do western Aussies believe in snow?

jarart -- that question deserves a separate answer. Inez, of course. For several years, my LH and I walked downtown to the post office after breakfast at the Apple Pan. We often saw the lady in question pop into all the stores to let the props know that all was well in the world. I miss her.

Yes, That is who I had in mind. I think everyone who knew her misses her. She brought a smile to the face of all she met.

Hee, it's just me, GJ.

Power lines and I just clash. LOL

anon av -- well, you are just going to have to put up with an occasional post that includes them. I find that power substations and poles make wonderful abstract pictures.
