A cool lily pond

Our rains have moved east toward New Mexico for the week and, this being Arizona, everything has heated up again. I remembered I had water lily pix from the Sharlot Hall museum grounds; what better way to suggest cool, cool water? FYI, the little yellow flowers dotting the lily pads and the water are from the golden rain tree that shades the pond.

The pond is surrounded by benches; the water is circulated through the ivy-covered cistern (below). My favorite natural lily ponds are in the mini canyons up at the absolute head end of Sycamore Canyon in the Kaibab, especially the Pomroy Tanks. One of these days Real Soon Now, I'll locate pictures the LH took up there many years ago.

Note: I am getting on another airplane tomorrow; you might not hear from me for a few days, and when you do, bear in mind that I will be using an Alien Computer -- not my favorite habit. Where? Alaska, believe it or not.

This is an "Off Topic Comment" but...I seem to have lost my knack for posting/commenting in 'Blog Land,' for a while. All I do lately, is put up a few photos, here and there. I didn't plan on it... It just happened.

And since I don't want anyone to think I got *uppity* or anything, :-) I'm leaving this comment, to explain my absence.

I'm sure to be back in not too long. Can't keep a "Chatty Person" quiet, for too long. :-)

Miss Mari-Nanci:

Sometimes we all need to take a break from posting to our blogs.

The real world calls us away from cyberspace, and that's okay!

Love you anyways!

Granny,
assuming you will be flying into Anchorage, how about a photo of you standing by that humongous, ginormous Grizzly Bear at the airport, assuming it's still there.

Grani,
I serendipidiously came upon your blog.
I love it,
thinking of making the move from mw to sw.
Been a big fan since 1987 when I first visited Tucson and the canyon,
the kids are grown and I just got my MLIS,
hummm...
could this be the right moment?

jeff -- welcome, as long as you come west & don't try to change things, the way some newcomers do....

Granny my best trip was in 87 down Havasu canyon.
twas a long walk, longer back up,
but then I fell in love with the west.
I've read Abbey and would have loved to go have gone down the river in Glen Canyon with him.
Now we can only rent a boat and drift in Lake Powell.
But Rainbow Bridge is still a peaceful sight.
