Another cool loo

There's something rather Roman and decadent about the toilet facility as art venue. Regardless, that's what's happening around town! Herewith, my latest relief experience, this time in the Ladies' at the Highlands Center for Natural History. (Note that I have corrected the name of the establishment; I am about to rush back to my previous post to make amends.)

The walls feature a series of tiles of nature subjects, painted by kids. Very likely at one of the many children's programs sponsored by the center.

Critters galore, with a few flowers scattered here and there.

Mom and baby javelina was a major production, requiring four tiles. BTW, I understand that the men also enjoy the same sort of tile work in their loo.

Those are beautiful tiles.

You have just given me an idea for the blank white wall space behind my cooker.

We need more colour in our lives.

That's a great idea. I think the kids would be happy to see their art work on the wall, even if it is in the loo.

Now that is some smart thinking...it may be the only time some people sit still long enough to enjoy some art:)

I have heard of artwork in loos before but only rarely. I wouldn't dare photograph it though.

I love the Highland Center as they truly do the coolest things.

tales -- glad to have been of service! They are very nice tiles. And bright

jarart -- I doubt if it would bother the kids at all.

windy -- one problem -- whe you sit, you face the door, which doesn't have art on it...

hyde -- don't know about your neck of the woods, but up here in the AZ mountains, there are some splendid loos that deserve to be immortalized.

anon av -- you got there before I did, apparently. This was my very first visit. It did seem to be a cook place generally.

I love those tiles! I am sure encouragement like that would stop future grafitti of public spaces!

meggie -- I wonder. Maybe this sort of project will only serve to interest kids in decorating public places, with or without sponsorship.
